About Chicagoland Veterans Museum

Group of Veterans

We are a group of Veterans and sons of Veterans, who donate our time, money and efforts to our Living Memorial to Veterans.

November 8, 2020 was a very special day in River Grove, Illinois. The American Legion post 335 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 5979, dedicated the Chicagoland Combined Veterans Museum, Library and Honor Roll. What an amazing way to honor our Veterans.

Formation and Dedication

The Chicagoland Veterans Museum was conceived and initiated by Lorenzo Fiorentino, the Commander of American Legion post 335, and the Adjutant for Veterans of Foreign Wars post 5979. With the dedicated support from fellow post members, including Richard Wojewnik, the museum soon became a reality, serving as a testament to the valiant efforts and memories of our Veterans.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate, increase awareness, and create a greater appreciation, to both visitors and local residents, of the dedication and sacrifice of those citizens in the defense of our Nation and liberty. Our collection of military memorabilia highlights the exploits of all Veterans of all branches, eras, and wars of the United States military.

Commitment to Preservation

The museum is a beautiful collection of Veterans exploits and serves to preserve their past for generations of future Americans. Museum members have been approached by family members saying, "I just don’t know what to do with these items". To them, they take an oath to always preserve the documents, uniforms, pictures, and memories of the Veterans that they represent.

Honoring the Fallen

As you look at the photos on the piano and curio cabinet, all of whom are on the Honor Roll, know that the larger photos are service members that paid the ultimate price. That is what it is all about, preserve their memory and inspire the future; honoring and supporting our fellow veterans, that is why our organizations exist.
